“Every day, you contribute to a stronger future for our fellow Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. We, in turn, are committed to supporting you, your family, and your future, ensuring you have the security and stability you deserve in retirement.”

Chuck Bruce, CEO
As we move through 2025, we are faced with global events and economic uncertainty that have left many of us feeling unsettled. Recent tariff announcements, trade developments, and market reactions have raised questions about the duration and extent of the impact. Please know we are closely monitoring these shifts, carefully managing the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP), and working to serve you, our members.
As CEO of your pension plan, I want to reassure you that, despite uncertainty, we are staying the course to deliver on our pension promise – so you can continue to focus on what matters now and feel secure about what comes next.
Our Plan is built for the long term.
- Resilience of our Plan is key, especially in times like these. Our joint governance structure was created in 2014 with long-term sustainability in mind. This foundation ensures the ongoing health of the plan, well-positioning us to support you with a secure and stable lifetime income in retirement.
- Our long-term investment strategy is designed to navigate uncertainty and market volatility. Since 2015, we have strengthened the overall health of your pension plan, growing our assets by nearly 40% and expanding our reach to support over 60,000 members across Newfoundland and Labrador.
- While we can’t predict future returns, our investment experts continue to closely monitor market conditions, balancing disciplined decision-making with strategic perspective – all with you in mind.
Though global events are beyond our control, rest assured that we remain steadfast in our commitment to the responsible management of the Plan – ensuring your pension is there to support you today, tomorrow, and well into the future.
Want to learn more? Read about how we invest. I also suggest staying tuned for our Annual Report, to be published in June, which will provide further insights into the health of the Plan.
Thank you for your continued contributions to our province. Together, we’re building stronger, more vibrant communities for all.
Sincerely,
Chuck Bruce
